Antagonist Tour
Playboi Carti’s US tour has officially ended. About a year ago, we were supposed to get this tour. Truthfully , it was worth the wait . With most of the tour dates selling out or close to it . The Antagonist tour has been the biggest tour in hip hop since Travis Scott’s “Utopia” tour . With special guests showing up such as Rocky , Nav , Meek Mill , and Lil Yachty, Carti has made every stop memorable for his fans . I had the luck of experiencing the Barclays Center leg, and it lived up to the hype leading up to it. Seeing the stage design in person with people performing on the trucks bringing energy to all areas of the pit it added on to the atmosphere that the music brings .
For 4 hours straight the crowd was shoving , pushing , yelling, and even a fight breaking out for whatever reason with everyone else sharing the excitement of being there . For the whole entire concert, watching Lone , Ken , and Carti back to back was a full circle moment for the fans that have been following the rise of the opium collective . I think Ken had the best set of the night . His sound just has the demographic in a chokehold, also I just gotta say that Lone stands out as the opium member that is always trying to innovate his sound regardless of what fans may think , similar to Carti. Throughout this whole tour, Carti has shared videos on his finsta showing the energy each city brings, shouting out Banana Man and the fans.
Also, it’s been years since we see Carti so active, giving us Jersey collabs and even a Fortnite cameo of all things . And now that it’s over, what’s next ? Did it live up to your hype ? Now that we’ve seen this new set of songs performed how does the album hold up ? Antagonist is officially over and there’s really no clear direction on where he will go next
Oakleys Silent Rise
A brand that has been dominating eyewear for decades is oozing more and more into streetwear as the years pass by . With collabs with artists such as Travis Scott and brands like Braindead . I believe Oakley will make more waves to come and is only getting started. This doesn’t come as a surprise at all . Collectors have been buying vintage pieces on second-hand sites such as eBay and Mercari , especially the Oakley tech line. What started my love for this brand was when I ordered the Vertex boot off of their website .
A water-resistant tactical boot with a minimal design , cushioned support, and the overall shape . I fell in love with it the moment I put them on. It was indeed the perfect shoe, and it was put to the test beaten day in and day out , used for hiking , everyday commutes , and work. I beat the hell out of my first pair for the 1st year. I then proceeded to go down the rabbit hole of what Oakley has to offer around the time that Braindead also started having collaborations with Oakley, and I got my hands on one of the 1st releases of the Oakley Chop Saws back in 22.
These things were both stylish and comfortable . With the Y2K nostalgia for bulky shoes and a unique design, these shoes are timeless . Not following a trend or trying to be anything else other than what the brand represents being durable, comfortable, and unique . Prices on these have begun to increase over time going over retail by at least 150 for the OG colorways. Braindead has continued to release more versions of Oakley shoes as well with different models besides the Chop-Saw. You can also catch some features of the iconic “O” logo in music videos such as Destroy Lonely’s “Potato Loaded”
And as of yesterday, Travis Scott is now collaborating with Oakley on a Cactus Jack pair set to drop later this year. And of course, how can I not mention the Oakley Meta glasses ? With recent technological trends, Oakley’s collab with Meta puts them at the forefront of this new wave of recording eyewear as well as the recent social media use to make content creating easier and faster, giving us a great way of capturing 1st-person point of views .
With that being said, I can see Oakley becoming bigger in the streetwear culture, not counting the already massive success that it has had over decades. It’s not that Oakley is a small, underrated brand by any means . It’s a massive brand that has had its own set of enthusiasts for a while now , but I feel like it will pick up a lot of traction in these other communities.
Virgin Punk
-A perfect set up -
is the best phrase to describe this ova
The newest work by Yasuomi Umetsu creator of KITE released in theaters today. And to sum it up , it’s a unique piece of work. With this being a part one of more to come , all this does is just leave you scratching your head while by the end of it you’ll be upset seeing the credits begin to role. This anime is filled with passion , having each frame hand drawn every scene is filled with life . ( and if you stick around for the behind the scenes you will see how much work studio shaft put into it ) and you can see it pay off in the action scenes , when bullets begin to fly , bodies begin to drop , and limbs become severed it all looks so full of life and not just the action scene se but the environment as a whole is fleshed out down to its very little detail. You can see it in the lights of peoples windows, the reflections in the water , and the wardrobe choices for everyone on screen .that’s why it leaves you begging for more . The anime is vibrant and nothing short of eye-candy but it doesn’t overshadow the overall story . At the root of this anime just yasuomis past works(Kite) (Mezze Forte) . Our heroine is thrown into tragedy from the opening scene to the end . With foreshadowing to a tragic childhood to dealing with a creepy loli-con it’s easy to see that we’re being set up for a revenge story and its unsettling. The theatrical experience is bittersweet but unlike most people seeing this I would still recommend you go only to support this piece of work and make it possible to see more original works on the big spring , in the end all I wanna see is the next episode
Welcome to the Wired
The past decade social media and pop culture have changed immensely . Video games and movies have been milking remakes. Music has seen a shift sonically from your typical hip hop to a edm like infuence. The fashion space seems to have alot of people suffering from an identity crisis, and the state of content creation is saturated with brainrot. My goal with this website is to highlight all the things to come in these spaces. Movies that stand out to me. Video games that arent call of duty or 2k and music past your usual radio hits. We have never had more acess to media consumption as much as we do now, and just as fast as something new comes up it goes as well, but just like in the past real art will always hold up against time .
